Street outreach

Our Outreach Team works alongside partner agencies to work with people sleeping rough in the City of Westminster. The role of the Team is to identify rough sleepers in the immediate area and help them to access appropriate services either within the Connection at St Martin's or provided by other relevant agencies. The Team help approximately 900 people each year.

Once a rough sleeper has been identified and assessed by an Outreach Worker, we work with them on any immediate needs such as food, clothing, medical treatment, showers and emergency shelter. We can then start to identify and address their other needs including finding accommodation, tackling drug or alcohol misuse or mental health needs, referring to other special services and developing emotional and social support. This initial contact on the streets is a crucial first step in getting someone’s life back on track.
