With 2018 in full swing Christmas might feel like a lifetime ago, but we wanted to re-live some of The Connection’s highlights because it was such a success! Over 50 people joined the celebrations in our centre and got much needed warmth, companionship and indulgence.
This year we were also joined by special guests Ronnie O’Sullivan, Laila Rouass and Saeida Rouass who made the day even more memorable! People loved having their photo taken with “snooker legend” Ronnie and there were signed copies of his book ‘Framed’ as additional Christmas gifts.
The day started how every Christmas should! A full brunch with eggs, bacon, toast, pastries, fruit, juice and chocolate! Followed by a quiz and games to work up an appetite for the main event: roast Turkey with all the trimmings. Plus a choice of 3 desserts, as not everyone is a fan of Christmas pudding!
The tables were decorated beautifully with crackers and table service was provided by staff and volunteers – wearing festive hats – which meant people could properly relax and be treated to a truly festive experience.
After lunch Father Christmas arrived with lots of presents. Gifts included quality knit jumpers, toiletry sets, perfume, new socks, underwear and sweets!
We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make it such a fantastic day. A particular thank you to our donors and our dedicated volunteers who together made sure London’s most vulnerable people got the attention they deserve.
