I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Pam Orchard as our new Chief Executive, who will be joining us in April next year. Pam joins The Connection from Providence Row, the East London based homelessness organisation, where she has been CEO since June 2011.
During her tenure at Providence Row the charity has launched several new services including an award-winning accredited trainee scheme (which came second at last year’s London Homelessness Awards and won a Social Justice Award in 2014). Providence Row also launched a new drug and alcohol service (as part of the Tower Hamlets Reset service) in October this year and a learning and wellbeing activities programme. Pam has also overseen the launch of the social enterprise Rise Bakery.
Prior to joining Providence Row, Pam was the Deputy Chief Executive of Edinburgh Cyrenians.
Pam will be replacing our current Chief Executive, Colin Glover. Colin has led The Connection since its formation in 2003, having previously been Chief Executive of the London Connection, the youth organisation which merged with St Martin’s Social Care Unit to create The Connection at St. Martin’s. Under Colin’s strong leadership, we have seen The Connection grow and develop into the leading homelessness organisation it is today. The Board are hugely grateful to Colin for his tireless work on behalf of The Connection and the homeless sector as a whole. You might like to watch a short film about Colin’s time at The Connection and how he feels about retiring.
Our Board interviewed a number of excellent candidates for Chief Executive. They displayed a wide range of skills and abilities but Pam was our unanimous choice. I’m delighted that she has accepted our offer to her. She brings a strong combination of homelessness and innovation within the charity sector to our organisation.
We look forward to welcoming Pam in the New Year.
