The 2021 BBC Radio 4 Christmas Appeal

Lorraine, a client of The Connection
Lorraine is now settled in a flat after years on the streets, with support of The Connection

This annual appeal with St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity generously supports our work with people sleeping rough in London and other projects helping people elsewhere in the UK. This year’s appeal, The Next Step, shares some of the ways in which people experiencing homelessness have moved their lives forward in spite of tough circumstances.

Lorraine is one of the 5 people featured in the appeal. She ended up on London’s streets as a teenager. After many years of sleeping rough and living in insecure accommodation, with the help of her support worker at The Connection, Sinead, Lorraine is now settled in her own flat. She’s now looking to help other people who are facing homelessness.

Marian from Romania has always tried to work, even while he was living in a tent in London. But then Covid started and the work changed. The Connection supported Marian to find a place to live and with our encouragement, he now has a job again.

You can read more about the people who have been helped this year, like Donna, Lorraine and Louise and Jason, here.
