The BBC Radio 4 Christmas Appeal with St Martin-in-the-Fields – Home Starts Here

Please join us and donate to help someone on their journey away from homelessness

The Connection is proud and grateful to receive support every year from the BBC Radio 4 Appeal with St Martin-in-the-Fields.

Rev Dr Sam Wells, Vicar of St Martin-in-the-Fields

“Where does home start? With a cup of tea, a helping hand. With an enquiry from an outreach worker – ‘are you alright?’ With a voice remembering your name and asking ‘how are you doing? Can I help?’

A person seldom transforms their life circumstances quickly but home starts with a single gesture of concern, interest or understanding. For 93 years Radio 4 Christmas Appeal with St Martin-in-the-Fields has been helping people find the shelter, security and safety of home.

The Connection at St Martin’s helps people get off the streets and, sometimes for the first time, discover what home means.

By donating to the Radio 4 Christmas Appeal you can be at the very beginning of the story. You can know what it means to say ‘home starts here’. From that start, made possible by you, a person can begin to make a real home with the warmth, companionship and belonging that all of us need.

Whether you’re a long-standing donor, or this is your first year, thank you. You’re at the beginning of a story of transformation – Home Starts Here.

With best wishes,

Revd Dr Sam Wells”

Home Starts Here

With a donation to the BBC Radio 4 Christmas Appeal, you can help someone on their journey away from homelessness, towards home.
That help might be a night’s stay at The Connection’s Emergency Night Shelter, or a grant which pays the deposit on a flat. Across the wide range of services and support we provide, there are three stages of the journey together:

1. Preventing people from becoming homeless
2. Responding when people are homeless
3. Support to move on
