Event: Iceland Remote Highlands Trek

Starting in the ever so popular and stunning region of Landmannalaugar, locally known as the ‘hiking hub’, we trek for 55km over three days through lava fields, across multi-coloured mountains next to shining glaciers to one of the pearls of Icelandic nature…

This trek has some of the best topography we could ever want from a trekking challenge. From the bright lights of Reykjavik, to the tranquil warm waters of the springs and rivers, come join us and discover Iceland, land of fire and ice, on this fantastic long weekend challenge!

What difference will you be making?

Located in the heart of Westminster, we’re the UKs busiest homelessness centre, working in direct contact with vulnerable homeless rough sleepers all year round. Being a local organisation, we don’t have the overheads that others do, and can promise you that 91p in every £1 will be spent on helping homeless people. Running for us means you will be directly supporting the homeless people who need your help most, through our services which enable people to access housing, employment training, and professional support to overcome personal issues.

By raising £2,730 for our services, you could enable 27 newly homeless people to have a full initial assessment, creating their action plans and giving them access to hot nutritious meals, showers, laundry and GP services, and also enable us to carry out 20 hours of Outreach work. On these shifts, our Outreach teams (which include mental health professionals, substance misuse advisors, and ex-homeless people) will make contact with vulnerable rough sleepers out on the streets, to check on their well being and work to gain their trust, hoping to persuade them that there is a future for them and that we can help. This is often a long process as individuals work through the issues which led to them sleeping on the streets and any issues which may have arisen from their time on the streets. However, your contribution will help more people to turn their lives around.
