Event: Trekfest: The Peaks

TrekFest is one of the UK’s foremost trekking challenges – an epic trek across either the Brecon Beacons, South Wales or the Peak District, Derbyshire.

If you sign up between now and 23rd February, using discount code FB10 at the check-out, you’ll have £10 knocked off your registration fee!

Taking on TrekFest is by no means a walk in the park. It’s tough and will challenge you both physically and mentally, pushing you beyond your limits. But with the right training and preparation it is achievable – as thousands of trekkers over the last four years will testify! Whether you’re a solo trekker, or part of a group, you will be supported by the TrekFest crew every step of the way.

All routes start and finish at the “TrekFest Village”, where there are plenty of facilities available throughout the weekend – toilets, showers, camping plots, car parking, food and drink. There’s even a BBQ and bar for you to enjoy on the Friday evening before the event! Bring your friends and family along and make a weekend of it!

So what are you waiting for? Sign up to explore one of Britain’s mot inspiring National Parks, The Peak District, renowned for its impressive network of footpaths, bridleways and breath-taking views. Both routes start in the beautiful Hope Valley, the 25Km route encompasses part of the beautiful Ladybower reservoir and on the 50Km route you’ll summit Kinder Scout.

Located in the heart of Westminster, we’re the UKs busiest homelessness centre, working in direct contact with vulnerable homeless rough sleepers all year round. Being a local organisation, we don’t have the overheads that other’s do, and can promise you that 93p in every £1 will be spent on helping homeless people. Running for us means you will be directly supporting the homeless people who need your help most, through our services which enable people to access housing, employment training, and professional support to overcome personal issues.

What support will we give you?
The really fantastic thing about TrekFest is the level of support you will receive from the TrekFest crew, both before and during the event.
We can also help you out with advice on training, and support to achieve your fundraising target.
We’ll also be inviting you into our centre so you can see the difference you make first-hand, and so that we can say a massive thank you!

What difference will you be making?
There are two different fundraising options for this challenge, which are explained in more detail during the registration process:

Option A Committing to raising the minimum sponsorship of £165pp (25Km) or £300pp (50Km).
To put that in perspective…
£165 (25Km) could

  • enable 3 newly homeless people to have a full initial assessment, creating their action plans and giving them access to hot nutritious meals, showers, laundry and GP services.
  • enable us to carry out 2 hours of Outreach work. On these shifts, our Outreach teams (which include mental health professionals, substance misuse advisors, and ex-homeless people) will make contact with vulnerable rough sleepers out on the streets, to check on their wellbeing and support individuals to work through the issues which led to them sleeping on the streets and any issues which may have arisen from their time on the streets.

£300 (50Km) could

  • enable a vulnerable homeless rough sleeper to have a course of specialist one-to-one mental health support sessions which will help them to positively cope with their problems and move forward. Considering that approximately two thirds of homeless people living on the streets have mental health problems which are often severely hindering their ability to move on from the streets, that is a massive contribution.

Option B Self-fund by paying the challenge balance of £50pp (25Km) or £90pp (50Km), and commit to raising as much as you are able to for homeless people.

Option C Self-funded as above, but you pay the entire challenge balance at the same time as your registration fee – a total of £85pp (25Km) or £140pp (50Km).

Registration fees for this event are set at £45pp (25Km) or £60pp (50Km). For more information, please refer to the brochure or visit www.trekfest.org.uk
