Event: Virtual Climb Everest Challenge ( on a date to suit you!)

Take part in our Climb Everest Challenge and you will also be supporting those who are rough sleeping or have been placed in temporary accommodation.

The people that we work with, particularly people sleeping rough, often have long-term conditions and poor physical health which means that they are at a greater risk should they become ill. For those without a home, it is a particularly challenging and unsettling time, but we are there for those that need us, supplying food, medication, other essential supplies plus virtual support.

We know that many of you will want to take on a challenge that is as close to a outside challenge as physically possible, so take on the Climb Everest Challenge- Climb 8,848 metres in 12 weeks:

How it works:

1) Sign up to your race and your target distance
2) Pay a £12.50 registration fee
3) Complete your challenge at a time and place which suits you
4) Fundraise for The Connection for a suggested target of £150
4) Upload your evidence to Virtual@runforcharity.com on completion
5) Wait for the postman to drop off your medal!

Evidence Submission
Simply take a picture of your fitness tracker, watch or any other tech device which can show you having completed your challenge and send it via email to virtual@runforcharity.com with your name, the name of the challenge you did and our charity name. During isolation we will also accept daily written logs or a picture of you at the end of your challenge with your time and distance written on a piece of paper.

What impact will your support have?

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been working around the clock to help secure suitable accommodation for rough sleepers to help them to self-isolate and stay safe and well. So far, over 350 people in Westminster have been helped into hotels.

We are also preparing and delivering three meals a day for everyone, as well as delivering essentials like medication and toiletries.

We have also set up remote services so that our self-isolating clients can continue to receive the support that they need. We have provided phones to clients so that they can stay in touch, and we will continue to undertake case work for clients wherever possible. We are also checking in with people via daily phone calls, to make sure that they are OK during this unsettling time.
