Event: Zombie Evacuation

The Zombie Evacuation Race is a 5k fun run designed to give you a one-off experience you will never forget. The event in East Anglia takes over well known landmarks and turn them into zombie infested lands that if you did not know better could be mistaken for real life zombie infestations.

All runners or “evacuees” start with 3 lifebelts and your aim is to prevent those merciless zombies from hypothetically biting you 3 times and transforming you into one of their own! When you reach the safe zone at the end of the course you will be recognised as either a survivor (with at least one life belt) or infected (no lifebelts). Survivors receive the coveted survivors medal and the infected receive their infected medal and our taken to the neutralisation zone to be terminated!

What difference will you be making?
Located in the heart of Westminster, we’re the UKs busiest homelessness centre, working in direct contact with vulnerable homeless rough sleepers all year round. Being a local organisation, we don’t have the overheads that others do, and can promise you that 91p in every £1 will be spent on helping homeless people. Running for us means you will be directly supporting the homeless people who need your help most, through our services which enable people to access housing, employment training, and professional support to overcome personal issues.

£100 could…
Fund an hour of Outreach work – on these shifts, our Outreach teams (which include mental health professionals, substance misuse advisors, and ex-homeless people) will make contact with vulnerable rough sleepers out on the streets, to check on their wellbeing and support them away from the streets. This is often a long process as individuals work through the issues which led to them sleeping on the streets and any issues which may have arisen from their time on the streets; however, your contribution will help more people to turn their lives around.

£350 could…
Fund a full course of one-on-one specialist mental health support sessions for someone who is homeless and in crisis, allowing them to cope better with past traumas and to move on from the streets. Considering that approximately two thirds of people experiencing street homelessness have mental health problems which are often severely hindering their progress away from the streets, that is a huge contribution.
