In Memory of John Pudney

We are deeply saddened to hear the news that John Pudney passed away last week. Those who met John remember him for his grounded, compassionate approach to working with people experiencing homelessness.

In the 1960s, he led what was then the equivalent of the Social Care Unit (a predecessor of The Connection) and was responsible for purchasing St Martin’s House. He went on to live there with his family for five years — alongside people experiencing homelessness. This extraordinary commitment shaped the values that still guide our work today.

We send our deepest condolences to John’s wife Cilla, his family, and all who knew and loved him. We are very grateful for his life, his service, and his lasting contribution to The Connection.
