Jay Flynn MBE is best known for creating the hugely popular ‘Virtual Pub Quiz’ during the 2020 lockdown, bringing joy and connection to millions in a difficult period for the country.

Before that success, Jay experienced two years of rough sleeping on a bench in London—until he found the support of The Connection. Now, Jay is giving back by supporting others experiencing homelessness in the capital and being a tireless advocate for The Connection.

    About us:
The Connection have been supporting people sleeping rough to move away from the streets for over 10 years. We get to know each person we work with. Many have been pushed to the edge, and they all have their own challenges to overcome.

Everyone needs to find their own way home, but we go with them every step of the journey. It often starts with a chat, the offer of a coffee and perhaps a hot meal or shower. Simple things that aren’t easy when you are living on the streets. We work with people to recover from the streets so that they can move on to a meaningful, fulfilling and settled life, long into the future.

    What difference could you make?

  • £100 could fund 4 full initial assessments for newly homeless people, creating their action plans and giving them access to hot nutritious meals, showers, laundry and GP services.
  • £220 could fund 10 x 1 hour sessions with a mental health worker.
  • £2,000 could enable 6 vulnerable homeless rough sleepers to have a course of specialist one-to-one mental health support sessions which will help them to positively cope with their problems and move forward. Considering that approximately two thirds of homeless people living on the streets have mental health problems which are often severely hindering their ability to move on from the streets, that is a massive contribution.
